Injury

An Injury typically reduces an entity's maximum HP, EP, and WP values by 5. Mini-bosses instead reduce their values by 10, while bosses instead reduce their values by 20.

If an entity's maximum base value for HP, EP, or WP is reduced to 0 or less as a result of Injuries sustained, the entity dies. Base value refers to either the calculated total from a PC's Role or the default entry on an NPC's card, prior to any modifiers from Gear or other effects.

PCs may recover from Injuries by spending 1 Valuable per Injury within a properly-equipped town or city to heal. The cost and time required may change depending on narrative circumstances as determined by the DM. Recovery from Injuries may also be offered as an occasional reward or bonus effect, either within a scenario or upon attaining victory.

Injuries are frequently obtained in exploration scenarios whenever a defeated PC starts their turn. They may also be obtained in other scenarios as a result of failure or as an effect from a powerful enemy. Occasionally, Injuries might even be attained in the narrative portion of the game as a result of choices made.
